Drive Train

Drive Train

Final drive and transmission parts work together to transmit power to the ground and propel Cat earthmoving equipment through a variety of applications all over the world. Genuine Cat drive train parts, along with excellent maintenance and repair options, result in maximum productivity and lower owning and operating costs.

Drive train components must endure:

  • Incredible torque
  • High impact loads
  • Frequent direction and gear changes

Caterpillar designs and manufactures its transmissions and final drive components with these demands in mind. The result is a drive train that lasts longer and works harder over the life of your machine.

Description

Differential
Differentials is a simple, one speed gearbox consisting of a pinion gear and ring gear.
Transmission
The transmission is a critical part of a machine’s powertrain. Its function is to take the output from the engine and manipulate it to control speed, direction and torque.

Torque Converters
The torque converter is a fluid coupling which transmits rotating energy from the engine flywheel to an output shaft, which drive the transmission.
Final Drive
The final drive assemblies consist of two planetary gearsets connected together to provide a double reduction in speed and further increase torque to the drive wheels.
