Barzem Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd, as it is named now, was established over 70 years ago as the local Caterpillar Dealer. The company has gone through a number of name changes over the past decades with the most recent ones being Barlows Tractor International and ZEMCO, (Zimbabwe Earthmoving Machinery Company).
The company is a joint venture business, 51% owned by Zimplow Holdings Limited, a Zimbabwe Stock Exchange listed company, and 49% by Barzem UK Ltd.
Barzem has a dealer representative agreement for Caterpillar with Barzem , who in turn represent Caterpillar, the USA based manufacturer of heavy earth moving equipment.
